Poster for The Swallows performing at Gregory’s Ballroom in Richmond with the All Star Dance Orchestra. The Swallows were a Baltimore-based R&B and early doo-wop group and had a few Billboard R&B charting hits, including “Beside You”, mentioned on the poster. They are also known for their rendition—the first one recorded—of the suggestive track “It Ain’t the Meat (It’s the Motion)”, which few radio stations at the time would play.
