Traveling Immigration Agent’s C.M. & St. P. Exhibit Car Season, 1909-1910.

N.p. N.d. Silver gelatin photograph measuring 6 ¼ x 8 ¼ inches, mounted to clipped portion of album page, with portrait photographs verso. Fine contrast. Item #List3534

A photograph showing the interior of an exhibit car advertising the areas covered by the railway's expansion toward Puget Sound. Two agents, an O.D. Tibbetts from Chicago and an A.H. Box from Lavina, Montana. The exhibit shows natural specimens including coal from the mines in Montana, animal skulls, plants, minerals and the like. These exhibit cards were common for railroads advertising emigration to points along extensions, sometimes acting as mobile land offices as well as exhibits, though we have not encountered another interior photograph of one.
