Family Limitation (Revised Thirteenth Edition).

N.p. 1920s or 1930s. 12mo, 23pp in paper wraps. Worn and toned, previously folded in half, with some pencil markings; very good. Item #List38135

The revised thirteenth edition of nurse, sex educator, and birth control activist Margaret Sanger’s Family Limitation. The booklet, which discusses methods of contraception, was originally written in 1914 while Sanger was awaiting trial for violating the anti-obscenity Comstock Act with her newsletter, The Woman Rebel. She published frequent revisions of Family Limitation as medical knowledge about contraception advanced. This edition was likely published in the mid to late 1920s or possibly early 1930s; in the 1930s, the birth control movement in the US had much more widespread support than when Sanger began her campaign. OCLC locates three holdings of the revised thirteenth edition.
